The Salt of his Earth
The ripest rose he had ever seen
Sliced into his hazel eyes
Causing his dusty heart to rise
Higher than the birds
Perched on the Knarled canopy above
Firing two beautiful syllables through the air
He had combed the clouds for someone
Who turned poison into champagne
When it came from their hand
For someone whose radiance
Was brighter then the snake of Daffodils
Illuminating an otherwise dark path ahead
She playfully stroked his chin
Wiping away all the pain it had previously held
Her lips gave more life to his breath
Than the sun or moon ever had
Holding him under the purple sky
She wouldn’t let go until it was drained of colour
He didn’t know what was around the corner
He didn’t care what was around the corner
In his arms was the reason for his birth
In his arms was the Salt of his Earth

Sparkling Sapphires
How come it has taken everyone so long to see?
Your eyes are brimming with sapphire
They are more dazzling than the rising sun
When I see them I know a beautiful day has just begun
I’ll clamber up the highest mountain
Splash through the raging river
To see their vivid shine
And to feel my spine shiver
I savour every second
Your enchanting eyes stare at me
On the darkest night of the darkest day
It is the only time I see clearly
Every time you blink
You wash away decades of anguish and pain
Every time you blink
I know I can be happy again
Bright blue eyes
Blossoming in a star filled night
Priceless jewels
Warming up a chilling twilight
Your eyes are sparkling sapphires
They light up the world for me
I will always feel safe
If they are there to see

Oblivious
I’m oblivious to…
The sun snoring in the sapphire sky
The trees swaying in the blissful breeze
The clouds meandering over the mountains
And the sand sweeping across the ocean floor
I’m oblivious to…
The river raging under the bridge
The morning dew embracing the green grass
The shooting stars sparkling at twilight
The fireworks making the night sky radiant and light
I’m oblivious to…
The world turning and burning
Around and around
To the moon spinning beside us
Without a sound
During sun filled hours
I’m the walking dead
But when I’m in bed
Love explodes inside my hammering head
I’m oblivious to everything but you

Twilight Cravings
As seconds swoop into the sumptuous setting sun
And the city trickles into a deep sleep
Robins sing your name through a veil of mist
But only I am awake to hear it
As I have twilight cravings for you
In the hour of Midnight
Wrapped up in a cotton cocoon
Staring at a wall swamped with damp
Like a bolt from the blue
I have twilight cravings for you
With a heart racked with despair
Breathing in Midnight’s chilling air
I wonder if you know or care
Far away
I am having twilight cravings for you
My eyes are woven with sleep
As I see you floating towards my mist ridden window
I wake up draped in sweat
It was only a dream
As I have twilight cravings for you
All you left behind was
Lipstick on the rim of a cracked mug
And
Discarded hair on a faded dress
But
At least you knew that they existed
That’s more than can be said for me
As I have twilight cravings for you
